Effect of active substances
OptiMSM*

OptiMSM* is subjected to strict tests for its effect and safety and therefore this product is a guarantee of perfect quality. OptiMSM meets the highest quality standards. Testing procedures are carried out by independent laboratories, which examine the product for microbial impurities, presence of heavy metals. The target is to achieve 99.9 percent of pure methylsulphonylmetan (MSM).

Methylsulphonylmetan
Methylsulphonylmetan is a natural biologically active substance participating in numerous biochemical reactions of the body. On the basis of clinic tests it was determined that methylsulphonylmetan:
• Relieves pain impulse at the nerve endings
o Inflammation
• Relieves muscle, joint and ligament spasms
• Expands blood vessels and improves blood circulation
• Softens skin in scarce area.
Literary sources also propose positive effect of methylsulphonyl on allergic conditions, asthma, migraine, connective tissue diseases (lupus vulgaris, scleroderma), sinusitis.
Methylsulphonilmetan helps to restore structure of the osteoarthritis- affected joints. It also relieves pain and reduces swelling, inhibits destruction of cartilaginous tissues, improves mobility of joints as well as blood circulation in muscles, sinews and ligaments. Recommended as a pain and inflammation relieving substance in regular pain and inflammation treatment. MSM proved to be safe for stomach and free of side effects.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water soluble vitamin. It was first mentioned in 1928 and some years later, it was proved that sufficient quantities of Vitamin C may help to prevent scorbutus. Large quantities of Vitamin C have been found in black currant, citrus fruits, strawberries, cherries, wild strawberries, kiwi, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, cauliflowers. Since ancient times, fresh fruits and vegetables have been known to help in prevention of many diseases. People used to prepare various infusions, consume tree leaves, lemon juice and, as a rule, it usually helped to preserve health. Vitamin C proved to participate in many vital processes of human body. Vitamin C strengthens blood vessels, teeth, bones, stimulates wound healing, and improves iron absorption. Vitamin C is essential for strong immunity. Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant able to remove heavy metals from the body and prevent development of atherosclerosis. 60-80 mg of Vitamin C is a normal daily dose for humans. Increased quantities of Vitamin C are necessary for heavy smokers, those who live under stress or consume lots of sweet food or in case of possible infection. Vitamin C deficiency may result in scorbutus with such characteristic features as fragile blood-vessels, hemorrhage, poor wound healing, anemia, falling teeth, reduced immunity. In addition to that, Vitamin C deficiency may develop into general weakness of the body, weakness in muscles, pains in joints or disturbed growth of teeth and bones.

Scientific researches evidencing efficiency of the product
* Randomized double blind placebo-controlled research comparing glucozamine, methylsulphonilmetan, combination of both the substances and placebo in osteoarthritis 118 male and female patients with moderate osteoarthritis have been tested. The patients were administered glucozamine, methylsulphonilmetan, combination of both the substances and placebo for 12 weeks. Efficiency and safety of the substances was assessed at the beginning of the research, after 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks. A pain index, swelling index, pain intensity index and Lequesne index have been assessed.
Results: All the above substances distinctly improved the condition, relieved symptoms of osteoarthritis if compared to placebo. A combination of glucozamine and methylsulphonylmetan proved to substantially relieve pain if compared to administration of these substances individually. (p<0.001). After 12 weeks the combined treatment significantly reduced swelling index (p<0.05) in addition to statistically definite reduction of Lequesne index. All the substances were well tolerated.
Findings: Combined therapy is more effective in pain relief, reduction of swelling. It also showed better results in improving condition of joints if compared to treatment by individual substances. Analgesic and anti-inflammatory action proved to be quicker in combined treatment than in treatment by glucozamine It is assumed that combined therapy provides better and quicker improvement for patients ill with moderate osteoarthritis. * Oregon University carried out a 6 month treatment by 2 g methylsulphonylmetan involving 12 000 patients. No any side effects have been evidenced. Methylsulphometan is absolutely nontoxic. (Jacob and Herschler, Oregon Health Sciences University)
* There are evidences on ineffectiveness of methylsulphonilmetan in chronic pains, fungous diseases, allergy, and head pains, urogenital and respiratory infections. (Jacob and Herschler, Oregon Health Sciences University)
* Oregon University tested 24 osteoarthritis patients. 12 of them were treated by methylsulphonylmetan and the other 12 patients were administered nesteroid anti-inflammatory medicines. Methylsulphonylmetan evidenced immediate pain relieving effect with no any side effects. (Jacob and Herschler, Oregon Health Sciences University)
* 35 heavy snorers were administered methylsulphonylmetan 15 minutes before sleep. Result: 80 percent of patients reported substantial improvement of their condition without any side effects. Positive effect lasted for 3 months after treatment. (Jacob and Herschler, Oregon Health Sciences University).
* Double blind research evidenced that one year treatment by Vitamin C reduces risk of post-fracture wrist dystrophy.(Zollinger PE, Tuinebreijer WE, Kreis RW, Breederveld RS. Effect of vitamin C on frequency of reflex sympathetic dystrophy in wrist fractures: a randomised trial. Lancet 1999;354:2025–8.)
* Major doses of Vitamin C proved to be more effective than regular doses in common cold. (Hemilä H. Vitamin C supplementation and common cold symptoms: factors affecting the magnitude of the benefit. Med Hypotheses 1999;52:171–8)
* Multicentral research of 30 days involved people ill with allergic rhinitis. It was noticed that 2.5 g methylsulphonylmetan significantly relieved allergic symptoms in 7 days. ( Jacob and Herschler, Oregon Health Sciences University).
