Glucosan can purchased without a prescription, but it should be taken exactly as specified that effect would be the best.
-    Keep the leaflet for later reference, when necessary.

    1.    WHAT GLUCOSAN IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

The active substance of Glucosan is glucosamine that normally is produced in the human body. Glucosamine is neccesary substance for joint fluid and cartilage.

Glucosan relief symptoms of mild to moderate osteoarthritis of the knee – pain and function disorders.
    
    
    2.    WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE TAKING GLUCOSAN


Do not take Glucosan in the following cases:

-    if you are alergic (hypersensitive) to glucosamine or to any of the other ingredients.
-    if you are alergic (hypersensitive) to shellfish, as the active substance is obtained from shellfish.

Take special care with Glucosan:

-    if you suffer from diabetes mellitus;
-    if you suffer from asthma. When starting use of glucosamine, you should be aware of potential worsening of symptoms;
-    if you have risk factor of heart and arteries illness;
-    if you have kidney and (or) liver function insufficiency;
-    if you use tetracycline, penicillin or chloramphenicol.

Taking other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist, if you are taking or have been taking other medicines lately, including the ones purchased over-the-counter.

You should be aware and consult your doctor if you take glucosamine with other medicines, especially warfarin or tetracycline.
    
Taking Glucosan with food and drinks
    
You should take Glucosan with food.
    
Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicines.

Glucosan should not be used in pregnancy.

There is no data about use of glucosamine in the breast-feeding period. Glucosan should not be used while breast-feeding.  

Driving and using machines

Glucosan can cause head dizziness and fatigue. If you feel such effects, you should not be driving or operating machinery.

Other information on some excipients

One dose of this medicine contains 3,26 mmol (75 mg) sodium. It should be considered if controlled sodium diet.
    
    
    3.    HOW TO USE GLUCOSAN

Take Glucosan exactly as instructed. In case of doubt, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Recommended dose is 750 mg of glucosamine (one Glucosan capsule) two times daily.

Glucosamine cannot be used for the treatment of acute pain. Relief of symptoms, especially pain relief, may be experienced after several weeks of treatment. If the symptoms don’t improve, you should consult your doctor.

If you took more Glucosan than you should

Contact your doctor or emergency unit if you have taken more Glucosan than stated in this leaflet.

If you forget to take Glucosan
    
Do not take a double dose of medicine to make up for a forgotten dose.
    
If you have any questions about use of this medicinal product, consult your doctor or pharamcist.
    
    
    4.    POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS


Glucosan, as any other medicine, can cause side effects, although not in all patients.

The following side effects have been reported:
Common (≥1/100, <1/10) side effects: headache, fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, digestion disorders, diarrhoea, constipation.
Uncommon (≥1/1000, <1/100) side effects: vomiting, rash, itching, redness of the skin.
Frequency unknown: head dizziness, aggravation of asthma, swelling of face, lips and throat, limb swelling, urticaria, disorder of glucose concentration in the diabetic patients, increase of cholesterol level, fatigue.

If you have any of the above mentioned side effects or any side effect that was not specified in this leaflet, inform your doctor or pharmacist about it.
    
    
    5.    HOW TO STORE GLUCOSAN
    
Keep out of reach and sight of children.

This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.

Do not use Glucosan after the expiry date which is stated on the label. The expiry date refers to the last date of that month.

Medicine should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask you pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
    
    
    6.       FUTHER INFORMATION
    
What Glucosan contains

-    The active substance is glucosamine. Each capsule contains 750 mg of glucosamine sulphate, corresponding to 937 mg glucosamine sulphate sodium salt.
-    Excipients – capsule content: cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate; body of the capsule – gelatin, titanium dioxide E 171.

What Glucosan looks like and contents of the pack

Glucosan capsules are white cylindrical capsules filled with white or almost white powder.

Glucosan is packed in blister packages of 15 capsules. Blister packages are packed in carton box containing 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 capsules.

Not all the sizes of carton box may be available for supply.
